3-Day Advanced Precision Rifle Course

Description:
Precision Rifleman/Observer Teams are the eyes and surgical arm of any Special Opera-tions Unit. Most training opportunities designed for Precision Rifleman focus only on the shooting aspects. This course will provide the needed time behind the rifle but will also provide exercises in a real world environment that focuses on proper observation from both a covert and overt observation post as well as working with other observation teams. This course is designed to give your team the tactical edge needed for successful operations in this challenging environment. All students/participants who successfully complete course receive the following:

Prerequisites:
This is NOT a basic precision rifle course. Enrollment requirements include previous formal training in precision rifle work

This 3-Day, 24+ hour Course will cover the following:

  • Deployments and mission

  • Overt positions - Special events and dignitary protection

  • Covert positions - Urban hides, vehicle hides, hides woodland

  • Site survey and recon

  • Environmental factors - Wind, Temp, Angles, Range, Etc.

  • Gear check and inspection

  • Weapons maintenance

  • Speed loads

  • Marksmanship fundamentals and mental checklist

  • Positional shooting - supported and unsupported  

  • Malfunctions

  • Anatomy and alternate target locations

  • Ammo switch out to specialty ammo

  • Target interdiction Train bus and plane

  • Long range shooting

  • Low light

  • Glass- auto and residential

  • Ranging with duplex and Mill dot

  • Full mission observation drills

  • Numerous Range drills, to many to list

Mandatory Equipment:

  • A center fire bolt action or semi-automatic rifle, .223 Remington or larger, equipped with at least a 3X scope or larger and a sling. The rifle, scope and ammunition combination should be able to fire 1.5 MOA at 100 yards.
  • 500 rounds of precision ammunition
  • Bipod and/or sandbags
  • Spotting scope and/or binoculars
  • Handheld flashlight, with white and red light capability, 60 to 350 lumens
  • Cleaning gear (rifles will be cleaned often)
  • Personal body armor, load bearing equipment vest or belt, harness, & pouches
  • Canteen or Hydration System
  • Tactical Uniform or Camouflage clothing, Baseball type cap, eye and ear protection
  • Current rifle data book or an empty three ring binder with pen/pencil
  • Defensive handgun, holster, and 50 rounds of ammunition

Recommended Equipment:

  • Shooting mat (foam camping mat will work)
  • Equipment pack
  • Ballistic helmet
  • Elbow and knee pads
  • Ghillie suit
  • Camouflage face paint
  • Weapon mounted light, 60 to 350 lumens with momentary switch (light mounted on top of scope or on rifle stock, not on barrel)

Optional Equipment:

  • Anything not listed that would be a normal part of your personal deployment gear
